Following the very strong turn-out of Transport Geographers at the RGS-IBG annual conference last week in London, we will be uploading many posts in the coming weeks. The record number of sessions hosted by the Transport Geography Research Group (TGRG) were extremely well attended and contained very high quality presentations. Summaries of the sessions, including slides, will be available from the Write-ups section of the website. Perhaps most importantly, we can welcome some new members to our updated Committee. See below for a write-up.
One of the most important events at the RGS conference for the TGRG was our annual meeting (AGM). It was well attended and informative, with TGRG Chair Karen Lucas outlining priority areas for the future of TGRG (including outreach and continuing inter-annual events) and outgoing Treasurer Lisa Davison providing an excellent summary of the group’s finances and member’s survey.
In terms of new members, there were a number of changes:
- Angela Curl replaces Kate Pangbourne as our secretary, who has done an amazing job for 4 years.
- Graham Parkhurst will replace Lisa Davison as our treasurer from November. Thanks to Lisa, also a long-time and very active TGRG committee member.
- Simon Blainey replaces Angela Curl as the Membership Officer.
Watch this space for the new Post-Graduate Representative, to assist Joana Elvy in organising events, contributing website content and outreach.
A big thank you from all of us at the TGRG for such a great performance at UK geography’s longest standing meeting.
