Nicholas Klein provides an engaging review of Jason Henderson‘s book Street Fight: The Politics of Mobility in San Francisco.
A short summary including a link to a copy of the review follows.
In his review Klein highlights that the book argues that politics helps rather than hinders transport policy and that Henderson demonstrates this by analysing a range of San Francisco case studies focusing on the ‘dominant…political ideologies’, namely: progressive, neoliberal and conservative, . Though a largely complementary review, which emphasises that lessons learnt from San Francisco are transferable to other contexts, the focus on political ideologies is criticised as ‘limiting at times’.
